Toning the Canvas
A quick introduction to this Channel, plus why and how to tone a canvas for Oil Painting.
This is a short video describing the general philosophy of Samaniego Art School. As opposed to the traditional, full length courses, here I will be offering smaller, more digestible videos, focused on helping the student with one particular problem at a time. The concept is that, as the student is working on their own paintings and drawings, and come across a technical hurdle, they can come here to find a short, effective video describing the technique they need to move on.
Additionally, as a FREE bonus, I discuss the reasons for toning a canvas prior to painting in Oils, as well as demonstrate the technique for doing so, using Acrylic paints.
Your Instructor
I believe great Art requires Creativity and inspiration, but also a high level of Craftsmanship. For this reason, throughout my career, I have strived for a refined technique that becomes the instrument of a personal artistic language.
In my many years of teaching students of every level, I have developed methods that are practical and effective. My videos are mostly short, focused on one technical aspect of painting and drawing, and designed to provide you with solutions to the problems you encounter while working on your own paintings.
